Boys Tennis

  • This is a no-cut sport but the 3rd week in February is a cut-off date for getting on the team

  • Teams
    • Junior Varsity Team (all grades based on level)
      • The JV players play when the 1st available courts open up. They will play either singles or doubles. The matches will be an 8-game pro set.
    • Varsity Team (Top 10 players)
      • The Varsity players play the best out of 3 sets. The 10 players make up 4 single players and 3 doubles teams. The winner of the match is determined by winning 4 out of the 7 matches.
  • Season
    • There is a Summer Camp that begins in the middle of June and goes through the end of July.
    • Beginning of February till middle of April
    • Post season middle of April till middle of May
  • Practice
    • Prior to start the following required forms need to filled out
    • Practices occur daily and start at 3 pm (or right after school) and practice runs for 2 hours.
  • Games
    • We have a limit of 22 matches (not counting CCS matches). Our scheduled regular season matches can be from 10 to 14 matches. So, non-league fills in the remaining matches (depending on availability).
    • The boys play “Ad”. This means that they keep going until they will the game by 2 points.
    • The matches start around 3:15 pm. They can last until 7:00 pm (depending on number of courts available, and quality of players).
  • Player need to provide
    • Tennis racket (beginners can get $30 – $40)
    • Proper shoes (tennis shoes or cross-trainers are highly recommended, running shoes do not offer the proper side support and injures can occur)
    • Shorts/Skort/Sweatpants (please do not wear normal pants/skirt)
    • T-shirt
    • As the season gets closer, players will need to purchase the team uniform from the school. This uniform will be gender specific. The uniform will cost around $50- $75.

  • School provides (for season – needs to be returned)

  • Donation suggested per player/season $50.
    • Every home match, we must supply new tennis balls for every match. This means 7-9 cans of tennis balls. This is the minimum for tennis, therefore, we request a donation of $50. This will also cover other minor necessities that may come up (such as net strap replacements, purchasing snacks and water, etc.)
  • Immediate need of the program
    • The tennis courts need 2 new nets to replace our older, more worn nets.
